Good news, everyone!
I’m pleased to announce that the Lake Murray Village area in
southern Oklahoma has raised funding to install a new (to them) tornado
siren! Through the volunteer firefighters over at the
Lake Murray Village Volunteer Fire Division and an ongoing newsletter written
by me, we managed to let the public know about the project and solicit help
from the community.
The previous system was quite a bit older and a newer system
was very much needed. The new system
will be installed soon, and will not only have the volume and reach needed for
the immediate area, but will also expand the reach to other rural residents who
don’t have access to emergency storm sirens.
In addition to the expanded reach, this system will be able to be
automatically triggered by weather monitoring entities.
